Michael: Two moments for me.
One, the picture of angie below…
It was a quiet day at the LA&M, with everyone at the IML hotel, but we had a chance to meet some visitors, a couple who came for the first time, and we got to meet a wonderful couple who were handler/puppy, Daddy Rose and Pup Rylee. (We came to learn they are International Trainer/Puppy 2013. Very cool!) It was just a small quiet but it was a moment to be in the LA&M, to be present in the moment of the place where a lot of wonderful, important work happens.
Second moment… I don’t have a picture of, but it was another quiet moment. The bootblack’s competing for IML were packing up, and I needed a scuff cleaned up on my boots, so I sat in a chair, angie got on the floor, Sarah and her friend were sitting next to us, Kai was cleaning up, people were bustling around… and yet here was this quiet bubble of angie cleaning my boots and shining them up, and the connection I feel when I’m watching her at her bootblacking craft. It was just peaceful and good.
First Shine is a moment i will carry with me for a very long time. The connection to the powerful women sitting for first shine could be an energy nothing short of amazing. There are times on my journey i feel disconnected or less of a bootblack that i am inside and it was all brought home inside and reconnected for me here with family. Traveling so much i’ve missed home.
Second moment – Being at the LA&M to volunteer with Master and even seeing natalie and lots and lots of other family for even 5 minutes, we can get back on the road recharged with family in our hearts and carry them with us for a little longer until we are back home in Chicago.
