[M/s 365] Grandma’s sayings…

public-footpathNot the day I had planned at all. Tonight was a meeting of the Chicago Leather Club, and our Bar Night, and I’m at home. Thank you work.

My Grandmother has been on my mind lately. She passed away in 2006, and I think of her a lot. I would not be where and who I am today if it wasn’t for my Grandma. She was quite the woman. She grew up during and after World War I. She raised two kids on her own during the 1930s after the Depression and World War II. She worked in a factory making vacuum tubes for PT boats. After the war, she married an auditor for a big hotel workers union and traveled pretty much all 48 continental States. Some of her stories would make me blush – she was quite the “bearcat” of the times.

Most often, I end up quoting Grandma. She had a few sayings that end up being true almost all the time.

If you don’t listen, you feel.

If you lay with the dogs, you’re going to share their fleas.

Better to take your time and do it right the first time, then waste double the time doing it twice.

I find those sayings apply to so many different things, whether it’s M/s or just life.

And now, after having spent a couple of hours switching from hacking code to painting walls, and back, I’m going to take some meds and go to bed.
